The Constitution was better than the Articles of Confederation, because the Articles of Confederation had many weaknesses. The Federal Government created by the Constitution is strong and powerful. Both documents were made in the late 1700's.

The Articles of Confederation created a government that gave the states too much power.  The former colonies were afraid to make a government as strong as England's Parliament. The states had more power than the Federal Government. The Congress created by the Articles could not Enforce Treaties and couldn't collect taxes from the states. Not being able to collect taxes made it difficult to pay the soldiers when they were fighting in the Revolutionary War. Other weaknesses of the government created under the Articles deal with the states having more power than the Federal Government. There were no Federal Courts or Executive. States didn't have to follow or enforce Federal Laws. States even made their own money. The money would caused  problems and buying things from other states.

The Constitution created a government that's stronger than the one created by the Articles of Confederation. The Constitution created Federalism, Dividing the power between the states and the Central Government. To make sure the parts of the Federal Government weren't to strong. The Constitution created Three Branches with Checks and Balances. Under Federalism, only the Federal Government can make money, but the states and Federal Government can tax. The Constitution gave the Federal Government a Judicial Branch and an Executive Banch.

Therefore the Constution is better than the Articles of Confederation. The government created by the Artis did not have nearly as much power as one created by the Constitution.
